Cataract service

Cataract is an opacification of the clear lens of the eye. It occurs ususally in old age but still can happen in infants and children.

The only treatment is removal of the opacified lens with a technique callled phacoemulsification and replacing the old lens with a clear new one.

Surgery is done under local anaethesia with no sutures as an out patient procedure.
