Cataract unit

Cataract unit

A cataract is a clouding of the normally clear lens of your eye. For people who have cataracts, it’s like seeing through cloudy lenses or looking through a frosty or fogged-up window, with washed out colours and can also cause glare around light much like looking at the headlines of an oncoming car while driving. Clouded vision caused by cataracts can make it more difficult to read, drive a car (especially at night) or see the expression on a friend’s face.

Most cataracts develop slowly and don’t disturb your eyesight early on. But with time, cataracts will eventually interfere with your vision, as, in most cases, cataract is a naturally occurring changes in the lens its related to age and increases in density with time

At first, stronger lighting and eyeglasses can help you deal with cataracts. But if impaired vision interferes with your usual activities, you might need cataract surgery. Fortunately, cataract surgery is generally a safe, effective procedure.

In uncomplicated early cases, it’s a simple and fast surgery that can be done by using an anaesthetic eye drops or a mild sedation with local anaesthesia, done by using an advanced technology microscope and phacoemulsification machine to get the best results.

This subspeciality clinic is concerned with treating  cataract by a delicat operation called:
“ micro-phacoemulsification and intra ocular lense (IOL) implantation “.

with a wide range of IOLs options as:
-premium high-quality IOLs
-Toric IOLs which treat astigmatism as well as any refractive error
-Multifocal IOLs (with or without astigmatism correction)
And that to meet the needs of almost every patient.
